Preclear plugin

Recommended Posts

I have a few questions and a suggestion.

1.  Super newb question, but should i just use the default and press preclear.  Do i need to do the 63 or 64 sector thing.  Suggestion is to specify specifically what settings should be done(perhaps in the first post, i scanned the entire thread and didn't see it).  My assumption is to only change skip pre-read to yes and cycles to 3, leave the rest of settings the same.  Then run it?

2.  Can i just delete the old preclear script and rename the preclear_bjp.sh to preclear_disk.sh in the install folder using //tower/flash/ from a windows machine?  Do i need to reboot again to get it to recognize?  It recognizes the original script now?

Thanks.

I noticed in the plugin description it says "This plugin is a parser for Joe L. excelent Preclear Disk Script. It also include a fast post-read verify option, courtesy of bjp999."

I don't see it as a selectable option so I assume all preclears dont with this plugin will include the faster post-read verify option?

Did you install the faster script?

No.  I wasn't sure if I needed both or just need to replace the original with the faster one and rename it?

Is there a fix for this small problem

I am using Chrome as my browser

I have a difficult time getting the Plugin to run after it starts

It takes 10 or 20 or more clicks of the Start button to start the plugin and just as many to the X button to stop the plugin.

I see this same behavior as well, regardless of which browser I use.  However, it might be related to the array disks being spun down.  If the majority of the disks in my system are spun down, it's sometimes impossible to get the preclear plugin popup to appear.  If the disks are spun up, then it's usually only one or two clicks to get the popup.

I continue to experience this failure to open and shutdown problem sometimes it opens after 20 plus clicks and sometimes it refuses to open.

All my other plugins and buttons work after one click on my system.

Can someone please describe how to correct what is happening.

The disk to PreClear is unassigned and should be already spun up

I did some testing again with this bug and here is what I found.

The bug occurs consistently with Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari.

The bug does NOT occur and the plugin starts every time with Internet Explorer.

Hopefully the plugin author can figure out the reason.

When I bring up the preclear Disk utility I get this error on the top of the page

Warning: parse_ini_file(/boot/config/disk.cfg): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/preclear.disk/Preclear.php on line 84 Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/preclear.disk/Preclear.php on line 84

And it hangs on 'Please wait... retrieving information!'

Pic included and log with it.

Brand new installation?  Syslog doesn't look like you've got any drives assigned at all, and apparently preclear doesn't like that fact.

So its telling that there is no disk.cfg, I have installed the disks, rebooted the system , assigned them and unassigned them...what do I do now?

Warning: parse_ini_file(/boot/config/disk.cfg): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/preclear.disk/Preclear.php on line 84 Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/preclear.disk/Preclear.php on line 84

When i install it on my second server

Okay so I got it, I have to assign and actually start the array first then unassign them to get it to work.

preclear on the way  :)
