Hello All, this is the first time that I have tried to preclear a disk before adding it to my array. I'm assuming that I have a bad drive? I just bought it, 8TB WD Red Pro.

Take a look into the OP and send me both diagnostics file and preclear log.

Should I try to run preclear again? Attached is my SMART report.

Nope, drive is certified bad:

See vendor-specific Attribute list for failed Attributes.

Yes, it is. When I get a little time I try to keep this updated.

I re-installed the plugin and tested it yesterday. It seems to be working well again with none of the syslog spam that older versions caused. Many thanks for your time and effort.

Can you confirm we can still replace scripts as stated in the original post? My recent re-install doesn’t show any .sh files in the preclear directory and any attempt to add one does not make it available in the preclear drop down.

@rxnelson, there was a small bug preventing the toggle between scripts, fixed in version 2018.08.23.

Thanks for reporting.

Hey,

I'm currently preclearing a disk but the update text below the drive on the "Main" tab is no longer updating.  The log is showing it's in the Post Read phase but all it shows is "Starting".   It's been going for way longer than expected.  How can I actually find out the status of the preclear and why has the auto update text stopped changing?  Even if I refresh the page, it just says "Starting".

Something must went wrong. Please send me the Preclear plugin log (see the original post of this thread if you need guidance).

I know this is the shotgun approach but I had a similar issue and ended up uninstalling the plugin, rebooting the server and reinstalling. I had nothing in the logs as well.

No need to do that. Just stop the preclear, update the plugin and start it again.
