February 9, 20179 yr Hi all. I have a Win10 VM setup for my gaming rig, and i am trying to do windows updates. It is trying to install version 1607. It installs, then reboots, and when it tries to boot I get a stop error. I did a bunch of research and alot of people were saying that it is because there is a missing driver somewhere. I checked and I had 1 missing driver. Installed the driver and rebooted, then i tried the Windows update again, I still get the Stop Error. Has anyone else had this issue and been able to fix it? Thanks!!

February 9, 20179 yr Author i have CPU0 unassigned and i have other cores assigned to the VM. Is that what you mean? Here is my CPU setup on the VM <vcpu placement='static'>8</vcpu> <cputune> <vcpupin vcpu='0' cpuset='9'/> <vcpupin vcpu='1' cpuset='10'/> <vcpupin vcpu='2' cpuset='11'/> <vcpupin vcpu='3' cpuset='12'/> <vcpupin vcpu='4' cpuset='25'/> <vcpupin vcpu='5' cpuset='26'/> <vcpupin vcpu='6' cpuset='27'/> <vcpupin vcpu='7' cpuset='28'/> </cputune>
February 9, 20179 yr according to the guide as you are upgrading you should only select cpu0. revert to your normal settings after update
February 9, 20179 yr Author Added CPU0, and get the same Stop Error. Which guide are you referring to? VM FAQ? To make sure I am doing this right, do i need to ONLY have CPU0 assigned to the VM and remove all the others i currently have assigned, or just add CPU0 to my existing CPU configuration? Thanks for the help guys!

February 9, 20179 yr Author ok that worked. However, now i cant get the QUEM DVD-ROM to work. Both report code 19 in device manager. I try to reinstall drivers and it keeps saying the best driver is already installed. Any ideas?

I didnt have that, but i found that using the Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant worked better for me. You may want to try that.
