March 14, 201016 yr I upgrade my 4.5 beta6 to 4.5.3 (but I do not think this is the problem... Before upgrade all 3 disks are ok and parity is valid. I stop array and reboot the machine and the raid is started but disk 1 and 2 are marked as unformatted, parity is OK... all my shares disappear from the web menu and the samba share is not visible from windows... very strange... then I only stop and restart the array and everythings goes OK... all working fine and fast... now I try to reboot again... all the same strange thing happens again: 2 disk unformatted and the parity valid... stop and restart array (without other click) and all go OK!!! have you some ideas? Massimo
March 14, 201016 yr I'd grab a syslog when this happens. Also, I just posted a thread earlier today when this happens to me when I am adding drives to my array: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=5648.0
March 14, 201016 yr Author Yes but I do not add nothing... in your case if you simply stop and restart the array what happens? in my unraid after a stop-start of the array all take running well... so for me is not a blocking issue, if I need to reboot, I have to stop and restart the array... now I am waiting for a patch... or an explanation... at the moment, I install the 4.5.1 and reboot: all works fine immediatly, so this confirm that the array is OK and the problem is something in the 4.5.3 but only at start up... thank's Massimo
March 14, 201016 yr Yes but I do not add nothing... in your case if you simply stop and restart the array what happens? After a rebuild of my new drive, if I start and stop, things are back to normal. now I am waiting for a patch... or an explanation... at the moment, I install the 4.5.1 and reboot: all works fine immediatly, so this confirm that the array is OK and the problem is something in the 4.5.3 but only at start up... thank's Massimo That is correct, whatever the issue that is happening, it happens upon startup. I still suggest a syslog as the more info for this problem, the better in order to have it get resolved.
March 15, 201016 yr Both of you, please make sure you email Limetech about this problem. Already done so and pointed to my thread where I am able to duplicate the issue.
