February 11, 20179 yr I got this error tonight and my system crashed. On the terminal screen it first said: /etc/sensors.d/sensors.conf: No such file or directory Disabling IRQ #16 Kenel panic - not syncing: Timeout: Subject CPUs unable to finish machine chec processing Shutting down cpus with NMI Kernel Offset: disabled Rebooting in 30 seconds... And then the machine was hung until I did a power cycle. This is the first time that I have seen this - but my system has only been up for a few weeks. Is this something that I should be worried about?
February 11, 20179 yr Yes. Kernel panics are serious. The first thing I'd do is select Memtest from the boot options and leave it running all weekend. There's no point in even trying to load an OS if there's a chance the RAM might be bad.
