Device is disabled, but no errors?

Featured Replies

One of my disks says its disabled. I ran a short self self-test on it and it came back with no errors, so I'm not sure what is wrong.

Here you go. I marked the drive that is giving me problems.

Looks like you forgot something.

Unfortunately you already rebooted after the disk3 got disable, so we can't see what happen, disk was online at reboot time but there's no SMART report for it, so looks like it dropped offline.

Also, you should run an extended test on Disk9, it shows 2 pending sectors, and they look recent:

Device Model:    WDC WD30EZRX-00MMMB0

Serial Number:    WD-WCAWZ2098155

  9 Power_On_Hours          0x0032  068  068  000    Old_age  Always      -      23746

197 Current_Pending_Sector  0x0032  200  198  000    Old_age  Always      -      2

198 Offline_Uncorrectable  0x0030  200  198  000    Old_age  Offline      -      2

Error 4 occurred at disk power-on lifetime: 23500 hours (979 days + 4 hours)

When the command that caused the error occurred, the device was active or idle.

After command completion occurred, registers were:

ER ST SC SN CL CH DH

  -- -- -- -- -- -- --

  40 51 00 f8 09 ac e7  Error: UNC at LBA = 0x07ac09f8 = 128715256

Oh I thought you were talking about before I restart after the smart test. I had powered the array off to check the connections before I realized that the disk was getting detected. Also I know about disk 9. I was going to remove it and then this happened with disk 3 so I have to wait and replace it first I guess. Thanks for the help though.

Disk3 dropping offline while unused is not a good sign, reboot again and get a SMART report.

I did that and still no errors. I have a new disk coming tomorrow so I will replace it and then see if I can find anything out when its not in the array.
