VM on passthrough sata controller

Featured Replies

Hi, I've successfully pass-through my ASMedia sata controller. Windows installed fine but unraid won't boot from the SSD. How would I tell unraid to boot from the SSD plugged into my sata controller?

a guess: find a way to tell the bios (whichever you are using) to boot that device first in your windows vm.

Yeah, sadly im stuck on the UEFI Shell lol. Have no idea how to tell it to boot windows.

I had almost this exact problem yesterday.

At the EFI shell type in Exit to get to a more "Bios-like" screen.  For me in order to add the drive I had Windows on, to the boot list, I had to remove the install ISO from the vm properties.

I have no idea if I was doing something wrong in the first place, but with lot's of messing around this worked for me.

Curious if this works for you, and if it does, I wonder if some of the more advanced forum members can explain what's going on.
