[SOLVED] Help passthrough DVB-T card

I'm trying to passthrough my new TV card to a VM as tvheadend isn't working well for me so far and I want to try dvblink which I'm more familar with but I need to test it in a VM as I can't get the dvblink docker to work http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=49578.msg540075#msg540075 , but I can't get it to work using the stub.  Can someone help please

 

I've tried stubbing 12d8:2304 and 14f1:8852 (I think this is the TV card as well), but the card never appears for selection in the VM setup page.

Only the last ID is your DVB card.

Did you reboot after you stubbed it in the syslinux.cfg?

Update: sorted - booting again seemed to do the trick

How has your card worked under a VM?

 

I've been trying to do a Win7 VM with Mediaportal TV server and never have much luck with the DVB-T2 card. While it works and I can scan channels and timeshift/record it causes big latency spikes when tuning to HD channels only. It's weird as otherwise the VM works really well, games work etc. I've never figured out why the tuner causes issues like this.

It seems to be fine - if I watch a tv show really closely sometimes I can just about see some lag, but it might be my imagination.

 

It passes WAF...Have you tried a different DVB plugin build?  There can be a big difference between the drivers

Did you stub the PCI device in your flash config? I just passed it through by adding it my VM xml.

Stubbed and then added via tick on VM edit page.  I think you need to stub.

 

I'd try different drivers - I had problems with the libreelec as the firmware was out of date and crazy cat and tbs open source ones were much better

There is no difference with stubbing or not as there are no drivers loaded for the device.

Unless you have installed the dvb plugin and have more than one tuner and use one for docker/plugin and want to pass through the second to a VM.

Also stubbing the device adds it to the easy to choose from list in the VM template so you don't have to edit the XML.
