How to passthrough a GPU using OVMF?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

If I use SeaBIOS the passthough of the GPU works, although if I use OVMF it doesn't. I can use VNC fine.

Thanks in advance.

I had this issue recently and the only thing I could come up with is something I read about the video card not being uefi compatible or something. (I can't remember where I read it.)

My video card was an older GeForce GTX 660. Yesterday I swapped it for a brand new GTX 1070 and OVMF is working just fine now.

Wouldn't that mean that I wouldn't be able to use it with my motherboard as the motherboard is UEFI based? I have the graphics card working natively... You're right in saying that maybe it's an older card as it's a GTX 470.

I just checked to see if it works with my Titan X and it worked. But it's not what I want to use :(.

I did not find enough info to give you an answer on that. Maybe because the motherboard has the capability to run legacy hardware while OVMF doesn't? I really don't know. I'd really love to get more info on this myself.
