Parity errors, but no disk errors

Featured Replies

Hi.

Just finished a scheduled parity check (non-correcting).

Found 16523 errors  :o, but no disk errors in the main dashboard.

Got a dual parity, so trying to figure out what to do next.

Diagnostics report attached.

Thanks in advance

Errors don't look disk related.

Do you do regular parity checks? Is this the first time there are errors? Any unclean shutdowns since the last one?

I've got a monthly parity check (no correction).

About 10 days ago, one of my drives (WD 4TB) died, so I've replaced it with a precleared spare I saved for a rainy day.

The rebuilding of the new drive went without a hitch, but this is the first parity check ever since the drive was replaced.

I'm running File Integrity check on all my drives now (using bonienl's great plugin) and 89 corruptions were detected by now (another 6+ hours to go, around 300k files on this disk).

Any hints in the meanwhile?

thanks

My guess is that something went wrong during the rebuild, but unless you have that syslog it's just guessing.

Since there are sync errors it's possible parity reflects the correct data, you could test but would need to unassig that disk and checksum the emulated disk (you'd need to use corz or similar as I believe the plugin won't check an emulated disk).

Just to add that if the corrupt files are easily replaceable would be safer to just replace them and run a correcting check.
