February 15, 20179 yr I have been dutifully backing up xml and .img and nvram using UserScripts for my VMs, not realizing that only OVMF OSes seem to have nvram (right? Not even sure. My google-fu let me down on this point). What does the uuid in my Windows 10 SeaBios XML install refer to? Is it just a random number, or is there another file somewhere that I need to be backing up/restoring? If there is no other file, is it just a matter of pasting the xml content and pointing at the correct .img file to restore a SeaBios Windows 10 install? Thanks!
February 16, 20179 yr The UUID is tied to the W10 registration. If you created a new VM with the same UUID and installed W10 it would be registered when it connected to the internet. If you had the img file and re-created the XML then yes you could point the new setup to the img file and it would work.

February 25, 20179 yr I am in the same boat, but how do I create the new VM with the backed up XML? Do I just create a VM not pointing to the image, paste in the XML, and restart?

Do I just create a VM not pointing to the image, paste in the XML, and restart? You still need a backup copy of the image. You then point the XML at the new img file, and you're good to go.
February 25, 20179 yr I do have the image, I just don't know what to do with the XML. Paste it into an already created, new, VM instance? Or is there some command to generate the instance from the XML? Or do you just put the XML in a directory and the instance is created? I honestly can't find these directions anywhere. February 25, 20179 yr If you select the "Custom' option at the bottom you are given a blank template where you can paste your XML.
