February 19, 20179 yr Is there a significant write performance hit in using dual parity? Never mind cache pools or whatever, I'm just interested in if and by how much writes directly to the array slow down when using two parity drives. Also, if parity checks are slower as well. I could not find this information via google search.
February 19, 20179 yr As long as you have a reasonably modern CPU there shouldn't be any difference at all. Older CPU's (PassMark ratings below perhaps 1500 or so) will have a notable slowdown due to the higher CPU demands.

February 19, 20179 yr Community Expert I did some tests when dual parity became available, like Gary posted, only on very slow CPUs there's a noticeable difference, and even on those it's very small: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=47408.msg454390#msg454390
