Memory for super micro C2SEA

Featured Replies

My server has a supermicro C2SEA motherboard which currently has 2gb of memory.  I am looking for recommendations for memory. I would like to upgrade to at least 8gb if possible.

any specific recommendations would be appreciated.

any ideas?   I looked at crucial.com but it looks like they only had up 4gb kits.

Looks like that board maxes out at 8GB total, not great but you would have to populate it with 4x2GB sticks.

C2SEE 2 slots vs C2SEA 4 slots

Apparently is is a C2SEE.  I just looked and it definitely only has 2 slots.

Which is unfortunate because it maxes out at 4GB, which is enough to run unRAID 6.x on and a couple of dockers, but not much else.

I wound up purchasing the following memory from ebay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/401280049561

it was Samsung 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333 PC3 10600 1Rx8 Desktop RAM 497157-B88

After I replaced my existing RAM with these two sticks and powered up, it wouldn't boot.  It just kept beeping and would not POST.

did I get the wrong memory??

Well crap.

Anyone know where I can get one of the approved types of memory from that list at a reasonable price?

I always go to the Kingston site and find compatible memory then go to my favorite retailer (even eBay) for that memory.
