upgrading problem (kernel_thread_helper)

Featured Replies

late last year i tried to upgrade my usb unraid software from 4.4.2 to 4.5, and the problem occurs after bzimage and bzroot where it starts to run the configs. it freezes at the kernel_thread_helper line all the time. i got frustrated after a while and reverted back to my 4.4.2 by replacing the bzimage and bzroot files from backup. been running it ever since.

last night i tried to upgrade again, this time to 4.5.3, and again its freezing up at the kernel_thread_helper. i havent had a chance tonight to figure out how to find the syslog. any ideas why this is happening?

im upgrading because ever since i upgraded my parity disk, anytime i try to load/copy over a batch of files (videos, pictures, music) over 1gb, it freezes my server and i have to manually reboot it.

maybe you have a system problem like bad ram or hdd as its only happening on big files?

This does have the feel of bad RAM. Have you tried to run the memtest (from the unRAID boot menu)?  Try running it overnight and see if the ram is solid.
