Extremely low performance after CASE swap

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Hello from Brazil! I've been using unRaid since May/2016.

Its awesome! But now I'm facing some problemas and I cant figure it out.

Im using unRaid 6 on my small business as file server and VM host.

I was able to get 120Mbs transfers on gigabit network with no problem.

VM run perfectly and smoothly - never had to reboot to solve any issue.

I was facing HDs temperature issues overnight due to backup and lack of air conditioning so I decided to change the computer case.

I got a Corsair 900D to house the PC. Its a HUGE case. Really.

That's the only thing I changed. The CASE!!!

BUT, since I moved to this new case the computer is so slow that makes me sick.

Everything is crawling... file transfers, VMs, browsing on web interface.

The VM is always busy, like the is no CPU available.

I tried everything I know of and cant figure out what the heck is going on.

The PC in question is an Intel Server Board S5000VSA, Dual Xeon E5405 @2GHz , 16GB RAM - its fast enough.

The two CPUs are working - the 8 threads are detected.

Its connected at Gigabit speeds.

The HDs are present, online and SMART its fine.

Any ideias? Thanks a lot!

HELP!

Please post your diagnostics zip (Tools -> Diagnostics). It could be as simple as a loose cable but without the diagnostics that would only be a guess.

I did check all cables... twice.

The 900D has a hot swap cage. I was using it at first but decided to use the old cables.

Here the diagnostic zip.
Thanks in advance.

There doesn't appear to be much wrong. Your disks are fine and there's nothing bad in the syslog. I see some error messages in the libvirt log that seem to be referring to a USB device that is missing.

You could try running your server for a while without any VMs and see if that improves its performance - I suspect it will. Then try to work out what the missing USB device is.

Any chance you have a diagnostics from before the changeover?  Posting that should help us determine what is different, and what that USB device is.
