I am running OpenElec on VM with pass through. While everything works in 4K I am all happy abou it but today I was thinking would be nice to update it to latest Kodi version. While Unraid has a LibreElec package with newer Kodi is there a way for me to transition easily? I looked up and their website says to put archived file in update folder but I assume we need Unraid fork version?

 

So generally my question is how to update so i have newer version of Kodi in my VM? Either keeping OpenElec or moving to Libre.

    Enable SAMBA in current version of Kodi, then run backup. Copy backup to your desktop.

    Create a new VM with the latest version.

    Enable SAMBA in new VM, copy backup to new version, restore.

    Test... if satisfied keep new VM, delete old one.
