sata cables

Featured Replies

I ordered some sata cables from satacables.com because they had short ones.  The cables came and they are not just short but really skinny!  :o

I attached a picture.  The yellow cable came from satacables.com and has the gigabyte style latch as well.  The center cable is the typical sata cable.  The one on the right is one of the ultra-flexible kind.  Not sure if it's easy to see in the picture but the yellow one is about 1/2 the size of the normal standard sata cable.

If these are actually good trustworthy cables then it's great because they are really flexible besides being thin.

Looks like they are so thin because on that site they use 30AWG wiring. Most sata II cables I've seen use 26AWG. (lower the guage the thicker the wire)

Ahh.  Well, I wonder for short length cables like mine which are 5in and 9 inch if that thickness is ok?

At those lengths I'd say it would be fine plus the advantage of being more flexible. I don't know what the sata spec is for longer cables but they sell them in lengths up to 28" it looks like.

I am seeing some other sites selling 30 guage cables as well. Another site I just found:
