March 4, 20179 yr This is probably a popular question but I can't seem to locate an answer. I've begun moving my data from reiserfs to xfs, and have my first disk copying over now via rsync. I have rsync running via screen on unraid copying from disk 4 to disk 8, Both are 2TB drives, but the source drive only has about 1TB of data on it. Also, if it matters, both HDs are connected to a Sas 8port PCI card. So data transfer if moving through there. Any general thoughts on how long till it should be done? 4hrs, a full day, 2 days, etc? I'm just trying to get a general idea when to check back and see if its done. Edited March 4, 20179 yr by ptmuldoon
March 4, 20179 yr What matters more is what are you copying. A few GB sized files or a hundred thousand small jpg. Are you copying while parity protected? One TB will take about 4hrs if your copy speed is 100mb/sec. I doub't you are going that fast. via mobile
March 4, 20179 yr I recently converted my 2TB drives to XFS. I disabled the parity disk for faster transfer speed and used rsync to copy disk-to-disk. It took me 10.5 hours per disk with mostly large files. An average of 4hrs per TB. Keeping parity enabled would likely take 2-3 times longer. I had the same question as you after the fact. Here was my thread: Edited March 4, 20179 yr by dboonthego
March 4, 20179 yr Author Thanks guys, I do have parity enabled so may be a little slower. And I'm transferring larger 1 - 4GB Movies and TVShows. The Unraid Dashboard shows the utilization of each disk as well which helps in giving an idea on the progress. So I'm about 4 hours in and about half way there. So hopefully another 4+ hours to complete and can then start in on the next drive.
