Installing a GTX1060

Featured Replies

Hi new to the forum already posted this question on a thread about the HTC vive

basically can't get my windows on the VM to recognise my 1060 right now have it working with  960

drivers just refuse to install as soon as I switch from the 960 to the 1060 not really sure what might be doing wrong.

the card works ok running outside unraid. trying to get my sys to run two 1060 one for each VM (if I can get to run one first)

any clues would be appreciated

 Motherboard  Dual 2011 WN7Y6 from a dell precision T5610

CPU Dual  XEON E5-2670 2.6 GHz 20 MB 8-Core ... 16 cores in total half on each VM

56 megs ram 24 assigned to each VM

parsec.

Can you be more specific about what you mean by " basically can't get my windows on the VM to recognise my 1060"?

Does the VM boot up?

What is the setup of the VM? Which BIOS and Machine type is the VM using? Do you have HyperV enabled?

You should not need new drivers, as the 960 and 1060 will use the same drivers.

Yep sorry, well the 960 boots ok drivers install ok, but as soon as I switch to 1060 windows loads as if I had no nvidia drivers installed, detects the card on updates tries to install drivers and fails.

Bios Seabios

HiperV activated

Machine type i440fx

Any ideas?

Hints?

things to try...

let me know.

 thanks in advance

 Tony.
