Reformat Existing Disk?

Featured Replies

I've started moving my data from reiserfs to xfs and just completed the transfer of data of 1 source disk to the new XFS formatted destination disk.

I did the swap all looks good.   Now, in the wiki it says to then format that former source 1 disk to continue on to the next...  But I did/do not see an option to actually format the former source 1 disk.  I think it needs to precleared again first?

So can Unraid take an existing disk and reformat it?  Or do you need to always preclear a drive before it can be formatted?

WIth the array stopped, click on the disk you want to format. This will take you to a settings page for that disk. You can change its filesystem there, then starting will let you format it.

Thanks.  I see it now.  I was thinking similar to adding a new drive after a preclear the format option was just there after starting the array.  Moving on to disk 2 now.  Hope to have it all done over the next few days.
