March 5, 20179 yr Hello all, I am replacing my motherboard since my current one doesn't work well to hardware pass through USB controllers or have two video cards passed to two different VMs that are turned on at the same time. With that said, is there anything special I need to know about? I use VM's, Dockers, and have some plug-ins. Will I need to do anything special for the Dockers? I figure I will probably have to simply re-edit the VM's to point to the new hardware locations.
March 5, 20179 yr It would probably be a good idea to take a screen shot of your disk configuration in unRAID, from the MAIN tab. unRAID remembers disk positions but you should know which physical drive is your parity drive in case you need to do a new config and reassign your drives. I have done a motherboard swap before and while it can go smoothly with little to no issues, it can also be fraught with them. Take your time, be patient, and if something isn't working, walk away and take a breather before trying again. If you still get stuck or are unsure, post your questions here and we can do our best to help you out. Edited March 5, 20179 yr by ashman70
March 9, 20179 yr I recently upgraded my server from v5 to 6.2.4. At the same time I replaced my motherboard. I made sure I knew the drive/serial assignments and physically knew which disk was parity, disk1, disk2, etc. I had to re-assign my disks, but I'm pretty certain that was only because of the OS upgrade. A screenshot of the disk config page will be helpful. The new mobo didn't cause me any problems.
