March 8, 20179 yr Currently have a single 128GB SSD cache drive and have acquired a 2nd to add to the mix; thinking RAID 0 for performance. I also have a stash of platter drives with considerable space (500GB).. my question being is there a draw back to mixing the 2 types in a single pool, can the 2 types be segregated into seperate pools and have different shares assigned to different cache pools. Just thinking out-loud wondering what others have done? Any thoughts or creative ideas welcomed... Edited March 8, 20179 yr by whwunraid
March 8, 20179 yr Your SSD is going to be slowed down by the seek time of the slower HDD. I wouldn't mix them. I have seen feature requests asking for separate cache pools, but right now it's not available. You can always add the 500GB drives outside the array using the unassigned disks plugin.
March 9, 20179 yr it would be a nice to have separate cache pools, right?.... perhaps you should comment here:
