Windows 10 Unbearably Slow Directory Listing

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I've fully upgraded to Unraid from WHSv1. I'm loving it so far but I do have a big problem. I've got several folders on the system that are huge, 100's if not 1000's of folders and files and often when trying to do two things like, view a file in a folder and save a file in another folder it will just hang for minutes at a time. Sometimes it will complete and sometimes the save will time out with "network could not be found". I've got two cache drives which I thought would mitigate this sort of things but it seems any time I try to do two things it just seizes up the entire system. Is there anything I can do, or look at? The server itself, at least the WebGUI seems OK and  seems to be responsive when this happens.

try installing the cache_dirs plugin. Here's the forum page that discusses it. There may be another issue going on, but cache_dirs makes directory browsing significantly faster
