Cant Delete

Featured Replies

Im running Unraid V6.3.2 and i have run into a weird issue where im unable to delete certain files from random directories. Currently SMB is enabled with local master and my share is set to private with 3 users. i know how to remove the files via command line but we want to use it from our windows 7/10 machines. what we use the unit for is archiving old users profiles profiles so ill grab the files from c:\Users\Username and dump them into a file on unraid. most of the time it works fine but sometime or with certain files we get a permission error saying you require permission from DATATOWER\user to make changes to this file. im not very well versed with linux but i have tried recreating the users and also changing permission from write to read then back to write hoping it would reapply the setting. i also cant open the share publicly. any Ideas?

Whatever wrote the files in the first place is applying the incorrect permissions on them.

You want permissions of 0777 applied to the file(s).  Easiest fix is to install Fix Common Problems, and then from the tools tab run Docker Safe New Permissions to fix everything on the array.

If the permissions are correct and you still cannot delete, then maybe if the share is secure or private the accessing it from Windows (every windows user should in theory have a matching unRaid user) does not have write permission to the share.
