Direct connect unRAID and PC

Featured Replies

I have an IBM X3650 M3 running unRAID with plex and a virtual machine. The IBM server has 10 gigabit and I also have an intel x540-t2 in my gaming pc. How can I connect the pc directly to the file server? Do I need a crossover cable or can they be connected using a standard ethernet cable? When I tried connecting with a normal ethernet cable I am unable to access the files.

If both adapters support Auto-MDI-X, you can use, whatever you want. If not, you need a crossover cable.

Every new 1000MBit adapter support Auto MDI-X so i think the 10GBit adapter will support it too.

If the adapters are configurable, take a look on the software. Its possible that MDI-X is deactivated - just a guess.

set both 10gbe connections on the same ip network address range. So, one of them would be 10.0.1.1 and the other 10.0.1.2

plug in cable
