Cache Device Reads unmountable

My cache drive has been read as unmountable for at least 5 months but i never worried about it since i saw no problem with what i was doing anyway.

Have a couple questions:

 

What is the cache device meant for?

How to set it back to mountable?

 

I assume its meant to hold files that will load faster, but i can only speculate.
