Installing Windows server 2012 on VM, very slow "Loading files..."

Featured Replies

So I'm trying to setup a windows VM. I have the vdisk on a mounted unassigned disk. Everything works great, it boots the ISO, but then it takes 30-45 minutes to get through the loading files stage. I have 6 gigs of RAM allocated, and usage goes to 100% during this. Everything works fine after that. ??

Edited by eadains

try installing with only 1 core only assigned to the vm.

Okay that worked perfectly. What's the reasoning?

i'm sure there's a highly technical reason, but i don't know it. after you have it all setup, you can change your core count back. something to do with it being a windows vm.
