March 18, 20179 yr Can someone answer this question for me please I'm moving from from my old case to a new oneWhich can hold more drives I'm wondering do I have to reconnect my HDD I know in the same order as disk 1 -2 -3 and so on but have they got to be on the original sata cable port Say disk 1 is on sata 2 has it got to be on the same port If not I have two Parity disks one is on port 2 and the other is one is 12 I think Can I move them to ports 1-2 in the new case Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
March 18, 20179 yr Doesn't matter at all. unRaid keeps track of disks by their serial number, not by controller or placement
March 18, 20179 yr Physical or logical port order doesn't matter at all for any unraid drives for any recent version of unraid. It will find the drive based on serial number, so as long as your sata controller isn't brain dead and passes the drive id through properly, you can switch cables and ports all you want and unraid will still find the drives and assign them to the slots properly.
