Greetings All.

I wanted to know if anyone is running the following card : Vantec ugt-ST644R - 6 port SATA6G

I have seen previous posts from 2015 but don't know if the issue was fixed in OS 6 can anyone please confirm compatibility...?

as this is the current car i can currently afford and I urgently need to upgrade storage. Please let us know.

Kind regards, thanks for the help and support.

Thanks I read that article, but does that mean I will not be able to run vm's what is the actual consequences if I do by happen to purchase this card.

You may not be able to use VT-d (or the AMD equivalent), meaning you can't pass-trough PCI devices (eg controller, GPU, etc) to the VMs, but VMs will still work.

is there a recommended entry level 4 port card which will work sorry have been searching all night for budget cards but in South Africa we are quite limited @ suppliers.

For normal HDDs the Adaptec 1430SA works very well despite being an older sata2 controller, it's not the best if you plan to use SSDs with it though.

Unfortunately there's not great alternatives, most 4 port controllers are Marvell 9215/30/35 based, there are some LSI but they are practically the same price as the 8 port models.
