JorgeB
Looks like a Marvell chipset, probably the 9230 or 9235, it should work but there can be issues with virtualization. Quote Link to comment
GatekeeperZA
Thanks I read that article, but does that mean I will not be able to run vm's what is the actual consequences if I do by happen to purchase this card. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
You may not be able to use VT-d (or the AMD equivalent), meaning you can't pass-trough PCI devices (eg controller, GPU, etc) to the VMs, but VMs will still work. Quote Link to comment
GatekeeperZA
is there a recommended entry level 4 port card which will work sorry have been searching all night for budget cards but in South Africa we are quite limited @ suppliers. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
For normal HDDs the Adaptec 1430SA works very well despite being an older sata2 controller, it's not the best if you plan to use SSDs with it though. Unfortunately there's not great alternatives, most 4 port controllers are Marvell 9215/30/35 based, there are some LSI but they are practically the same price as the 8 port models.
