Formating a pre cleared drive

Featured Replies

I am running 6.3.2

I have an existing cache that I want to change out for an existing pre cleared drive. that drive has data on it from when i had it in my array.  I assigned it to the cache drive but do not see any way to format within the GUI... any tips or threads I should read?

Chris

IF whatever data that is on the drive is ok to get rid of permanently, to change the format of the disk:

  1. Stop the array
  2. Main tab, click on the disk in question
  3. Change the File System Type to what ever you desire
  4. Start the array
  5. Hit the check box next to Format and then click format (verifying that the correct disk(s) its offering to format is indeed correct

If you want the same format as what it already is, then do this twice - change it to something else, format it, then change it back and format it again.  Formatting only takes a minute or so.
