Using a VM for IP Camera software

Hi,

 

Im looking at creating a VM to manage a couple of IP Cameras but im unsure how to pass the HDD through to the VM as the cameras are best suited for a particulare HDD,

 

Is the only option to Mount the drive and pass over that way?
