March 29, 20179 yr I can't see or access my Unraid shares from my windows 10 VM. I have it set to br0 but the unraid tower doesn't show up under network in Windows 10 VM. Been searching the forums for the answer and nothing matches up. What is the secret to get this to work?
March 29, 20179 yr did you verify that your vm and unRaid are in the same ip range? did you verify that you have shares turned on and user permissions setup to access them? did you turn on network discovery in your vm? those are good places to start.
March 30, 20179 yr Author Yes on the same IP range with a static IP. Yes shares are turned on and I have been able to access them from my normal desktop computer no problem which is windows 10. I setup user on unraid for VM user. Yes network discovery is on.
March 30, 20179 yr Author I can go to a browser and access the WebGUI. I can ping it. I can type the IP address in windows and it asks for credentials which i give it for the user I created which matches the user on windows 10 VM but it won't accept it.
March 30, 20179 yr Then check that thread linked above.... My take on Windows credential issues: I've never seen them, never had an issue, etc. But then I absolutely refuse (and have always refused) to have an msn account as my login to windows. I've always used local accounts and never had an issue....
March 30, 20179 yr Author Well I just read another post where you can just do \\IPADDRESS shortcut. I did that and can access it. Still can't see it under normal network but oh well. Can't figure this crazy SMB stuff out. I can see other computers from the VM and my desktop Windows 10 can see the VM and access it. Tried reverting back SMB in your link above but then my desktop couldn't access the unraid box so I got rid of that. Just weird. Maybe I will mess with it more sometime this week to see.

Half the time Windows doesn't see within the Network listing my other Windows computers that are sitting on the same workgroup... Make a shortcut in the Quick Access section and be done with it....
