VM Management Refinements

Featured Replies

Basically hoping for two refinements to the VM interface that would make things a lot nicer for anyone running a localized VM.

-Ability to reconfigure a running VM with changes to apply on rebooting it.  Exactly as it says, let us change settings, maybe even edit the .xml, while the vm is running, cache them or something until it's actually shutdown.  Mostly it would be really nice to setup device passthrough and especially core assignments from the VM I'm using and hit restart rather than having to shut it down, access from another system and power it back on.

-Multiple saved configurations for the same VM.  Related to the above, but doubly useful if there are custom .xml edits in play.  I run at least two configurations routinely based on what combination of VMs are running, it would be incredibly helpful to be able to save multiple configurations for a single vm, as in sets of CPUs, device assignments, etc.  Bad enough to have to do it manually each time right now, but if there are manual .xml edits it gets legitimately frustrating to replace them regularly.

And of course that leads to the inevitable, anything to be done to clean up the interface's tendency to wipe manual edits?  The solutions that pop into my head might be a bit heavy, but just alerting to conflicts and letting us resolve them rather than silently wiping out edits would be a major convenience.
