Replacing large o unwieldy USB against small smooth.

Featured Replies

Hey all
I have so far trial version (and I love it) but would like to change the USB memory when my current is large o unwieldy.
Is it possible o make it to trial?
I tried according to the process here https://lime-technology.com/replace-key/
but could not find the button Replace Key.
I have tried to find some tips on the forum but I am going nowhere.

You can't replace a trial key, but you can request a new one for the other device.

Ok but all my settings and so on is it ok if i copy the config directory to my new usb drive.

Ok, thanks but excuse my ignorance but how do you get a new key? Should I email someone or how?

Prepare the new key like you did your current one, copy the config folder from the old key, boot unRAID and you'll have the option to request a trial key.

Ok, but I do not have that option as I can see, or am I looking in the wrong place?

Did you reboot after deleting the old trial key?

Yes removed usb and reinstalled new unraid to usb then copied config folder without key file

Don't know why it's not working, maybe trial request only appears on a new install, redo the new flash, don't copy the config folder, boot and you should be able to get a trial key, only then copy the config folder and reboot.

Hello
Did as you said and it worked  so I can ask for a new key. But when I copied over config folder, I get a new problem see attached picture. I think soon gives up, it should be right as ** difficult to change the USB memory.

It's very simple and painless to replace a registered key, like I said before you can't replace a trial key, IIRC you're the first to ask for that, and while I though it would work just coping the config folder to a new trial key it looks like LT made this not possible, and after thinking about it it makes sense, it's not uncommon for a any one person to have a half dozen flash drives, if you kept transferring the trial key you would be using unRAID for free for a year, so keep using the original trial flash drive and if you decide to buy a license do it with the new flash drive and you won't have any issues transferring the old config folder.

Ok, I understand the problem. I lay low until I buy a license, which I will do. Sorry if I sounded annoyed it isn sentence.
