Shares not showing, unable to write to disk, call traces

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a Dell Poweredge R710 2.5 version, with 7 disks installed, (1) 4tb for parity, (2) 4tb in array, (1) 2tb in array, (1) 1tb in array, (1) 500 gb in array, and (1) 250 gb ssd in cache, and all are put down as individual virtual disks through my H700 raid controller.

I was using version 6.3.2 for a few weeks and things were going smoothly, two nights ago I started playing with more dockers and i think i must have gotten something switched around or did something to make things go a little crazy. i thought a fresh install of 6.3.3 would fix the issue. i first noticed the issue last night, my cache drive was filled up in a matter of minutes, and when i looked into what was on the cache drive, it was tv shows that i had moved to my array days ago. i initiated a mover command, and it started to move everything. i decided to do a reboot of the system after it finished and that was when i started to notice the issue i was having. All of my dockers were not working correctly, it said server error. (sorry i do not have any logs from last night). every docker i tried to start up, it gave the same error. So i decided to just erase and start over, and it still gave the same error. I went to my shares tab and saw that a lot of my shares were missing, i stopped the array and restarted it, and it temporarily brought the shares back, but within a few minutes it would just disappear again. I decided to call it a night, and would further investigate more after work. When i came home from work, i got errors from my array that one of my disks had failed, so i decided to go into my raid controller, and it was showing that it was missing, so i was able to reinitiate it, but when it does that it basically creates it as a new virtual disk. When i booted up unraid, i made a new config hoping that the problem was fixed, but it wasn't. My parity is still valid, and before, i never had disk shares, but when i put 6.3.3 on, it shows my disk shares, and it shows all of my data still on there. i will attach the last sys log that i have, please help me and thank you for your time and help.

Got to   'Tools'    >>>   'Diagnostics'.  That will download the Diagnostics file to your PC.  Then upload that file with your next post.  (The Diagnostics file contains both the syslog and much more information that will assist the Gurus to figure out what is happening.)   And don't panic at this point!  From what you have said, you haven't lost any data yet.  Wait  to see what they recommend as the next steps.

Thank you, I will post the diagnostic when I get home from work today, sorry for not posting it before, excuse my ignorance, brand new to unRAID.

I ran a parity check overnight and when it finished this morning one of the drives was X'd out, does that mean I have a failed drive? And should I go forward with replacing it?

Let us see the diags first, grab them before rebooting.

Ok will do, thank you for the help

You had read errors on both disk2 and parity, unfortunately because of the controller used there are no SMART reports, so difficult to help, can you get them manually?

  • Community Expert

Those are the same as the ones in the diags, by manually I meant if you can get them using the console or any other way.

Probably not without rebooting

No problem rebooting

Sorry, I'm not too sure how to get a smart report on the HDD that seems to be failing, when I go to the raid controller it shows that the drive has no errors? What else can I do?

Found another test I could run and it showed this, IMG_20170331_173642.thumb.jpg.d0fd193d33e138131215306134ef75a2.jpg

That appears to indicate a disk problem.

Is that one of the disks with read errors (parity or disk2)?
