March 27, 201016 yr I stoped by Frys yesterday and they had the Seagate 1.5TB drives on sale for $89.99. Said it just started yesterday (Friday) so they had tons of them. I usually don't go for Seagate as I have always had problems with them but this is a pretty good price and these drives have a 5 year warranty. It's also not a bare drive so it comes with sata and data cables and manual and screws. http://www.frys-electronics-ads.com/ads/2010/03/26/47301/Seagate-1-5TB-Serial-ATA-300-Hard-Drive
March 28, 201016 yr Good value xamindar. The cheapest I can get a Seagate 1.5 TB are about $129 AUD (Disks seem to be a lot cheaper overseas, I'm in Australia). I paid a variance in price when I bought my Seagate 1.5TBs, anything from $135 to $145 AUD, in store and pickup only.
March 29, 201016 yr I see this is the lower 5900 rpm drive. How would this compare to the original 7200 rpm drive. I have 4 of the 7200's now.
March 29, 201016 yr I'm a big fan of Seagate. But the 5900rpm drives are a new product and I'd say anyone buying these now are volunteering to be beta testers.
March 29, 201016 yr The Seagate 1.5TBs that I was referring to are 7200rpm, and all the Seagate's I have are all 7200rpm. I purchased these ones, see link below: http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=107_22&products_id=35051 RRP in Australia are sitting on $129 AUD, in store, excluding delivery. That could explain the variance gap between $89 USD and $129 AUD, the RPM speeds.
