April 1, 20179 yr Hi. I recently upgraded to Xeon E3-1240v2, with 8 GB of RAM, with Supermicro X9scm-Fmotherboard. I have docker enabled, and a few docker apps. I was wondering if my machine is capable to have 2 Windows 10 VMs, with 2 GeForce GTX 1050 Ti GPU Passthrough, and play 2 E-Games (same title) one against the other. What Do I need to increase? I assume 8 GB of RAM? Is my processor powerful enough? BTW, my motherboard has pcie x8 only, so I will be using riser cables to connect graphics card. Thanks
April 1, 20179 yr The first concern is whether or not your motherboard will separate your resources into groups that will allow 2 simultaneous video and USB passthroughs. I'm not familiar with that specific board, so you probably need to find someone with the same board that has tried it.
April 1, 20179 yr Author Hi. I always thought that if VT-X and VT-D are both supported, I'm cleared. Is this wrong? The board has 2 pcie x8 and 2 pcie x4. I actually intend to use moonlight streaming on this machine.
April 1, 20179 yr You're cleared, but it takes some work getting the resources allocated properly. If you find someone who has already documented your config, it helps Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk (this sneaky spammy Tapatalk has got to go) Edited April 1, 20179 yr by tr0910
April 1, 20179 yr Author Woo-hoo, when I bought this processor, wasn't sure what it can do. The only thing to do now is to prove it works :-) Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
April 1, 20179 yr You should find others who have documented that mb. It was a common one. But 8gb RAM is likely to be slow for multiple VM. But for testing it is fine
