noob question - mounting an unassigned SSD

hello there, 

 

I'm sure this is just a dumb question, but I can't seem to be able to figure it out. 

 

I have a precleared ssd that I want to use to hold my VM or two but I can't seem to format it. What is it that I'm missing.

    Settings - Unassigned Devices. Enable Destructive Mode.
