I have one of each of these boards, other than the amount of memory it supports, I'm struggling to find any real difference between the two, Intel's website isn't very forthcoming with technical data.

 

I'm just wondering if it is worth rebuilding my unraid server onto the S5520HC board.

    It's not worth it. It has less QPI links and other than that is just bigger and supports higher TDP CPUs. Unless you need anything an X5680/X5690 then it's a waste.
