Unable to modify files from Windows

Featured Replies

Recently, I was trying to copy some files to a share on one of the data disks and encountered a "You need permission to perform this action" on my Win 10. this was a simple copy to action.

I started looking arround and saw in one of the posts that running a fix.common.problems can detect certain errors. I tried that and got the following error message:

Your server has issued one or more call traces. This could be caused by a Kernel Issue, Bad Memory, etc. You should post your diagnostics and ask for assistance on the unRaid forums

So, now it seems that I have two issues. One is that I still cannot do a simple drag and drop to a disk share and this error.

I added the

ntlm auth = yes

and rebooted the server.  Still can't write to share from Win 10.

Just a clarification - I cannot manually copy files to a Nextcloud subfolder. Otherwise, it seems to work.

That pinned topic has several posts in it, and some of those posts have links to other topics. You might have to try several different things, not just that first thing.

Probably I should have linked you to the 4th post in the thread

I don't have anything precise or specific to suggest about the Call Trace. If you look in your syslog you can see the same thing Fix Common Problems saw. Are you having a problem that you think is related?

Just above the Call Trace in syslog is a line that seems to suggest a BIOS issue. Have you checked for a BIOS update?

Another thing that you could try is a memtest.

Funny you mention memtest. I know that the PC has 16GB in 4 slots, yet only 8GB show up. I tried various combinations and it seems that if I take out any 8 then only 4 show up. I didn't think much of it, as I thought that 8GB should be enough for pretty much anything and I didn't really need the DIMMs for anything else. So, I just left well enough alone. I think that the BIOS is the latest, but can't be certain.

I see that you have Perc H310's installed.

The can be a memory problem which is solved by putting a piece of tape over pads b5 & b6 on the H310's.

Kevin.

Thank you very much for the information. I was finally able to getting to do this and it worked like a charm. Had to modify all three of my H310s. I really appreciate your advice.

By the way, if anyone needs, here is the link to the modification page
