[SOLVED] Supermicro X11SSM-F - RAM Problem

Featured Replies

Hi,

I just build my first unraid server and I added 2 ram sticks to my build. My problem is that BIOS only recognize ram stick only in slot DIMMA2 when installed in DIMMA2 and DIMMB2 slots as supermicro manual recommends. So total memory is only 8GB. Haven't seen any errors, and DIMMB2 stays unrecognized even if i change placement of  ram sticks.

Changing ram's to slots DIMMA1 and DIMMB1 basically solves this problem, and system will work properly. Both ram sticks will be recognized normally.

I read from somewhere in this forum that Dell 310 in it-mode can cause some kind of memory problem, but can't find that topic. Could that be a reason?

Fix for this was taping some pins in HBA cards.

I will try update MB BIOS later today.

Parts:

Supermicro X11SSM-F

8GB Samsung M391A1G43DB0-CPB DDR4-2133 ECC DIMM CL15 x 2

Intel Xeon E3-1240v5

850 Watt EVGA SuperNOVA P2

Dell Perc h310 x2 (in CPU SLOT 7 and CPU SLOT6) Flashed to latest IT firmware (P20)

Any other suggestions to try before RMA that MB?

Yes, I have the same board, for the H310 to work the mod is required.

Thanks for your fast reply.

Will try remove both H310 cards after drive pre-clear is complete.

Hoping this mod will fix my problem.

That tape fix for H310's solved my problem!

Now I can see all added memory in slots DIMMA2 and DIMMB2
