I spent the last couple weeks getting my feet wet with unraid and some old drives. Now that I am comfortable I have ordered 3 new HDs and an SSD as a cache. Can I reinstall unraid on the flash drive, add the new drives, pre clear them and then build the array. I assume that the old drives that are in my test array can be mounted as an unassigned drive and have the data copied off?

    There is a plugin designed for exactly this purpose called 'Unassigned Devices".  You can find and install it easily using the " Community Applications" plugin.
