April 7, 20179 yr I'm having an issue trying to pass through a DVB tuner to a Windows 7 VM. The card passes through ok but due to signal issues I'd like to try the MSI fix on it. According to lspci, the card has a + against MSI support but if I try and force it on the VM it just results in Windows blue screening on the next boot. The card is a TBS 6281SE. I have contacted their support but their reply was next to useless, and written in very bad english. Should MSI support work on any PCI-E card?
April 17, 20179 yr Have you tried this tool? http://www.mediafire.com/download/hr...i/MSI_util.zip ( need to run as admin) I use it to setup MSI on my vms, but it didn't work on a hauppauge card i used to pass through - same problem got BSOD. Maybe doesn't work with TV cards
April 17, 20179 yr I don't think it works with TV cards as i had the same problem with my hauppauge. Do you really need to pass through? What are you using? I found life much easier with a docker
April 17, 20179 yr Author I'm using Mediaportal TV server. My whole house uses it and there's no plugins for mythtv or tvheadend so I'd really really like to carry on using this method. Would a USB based DVB tuner work any better? Or moving the card to a different PCI socket?
April 17, 20179 yr What are you using as clients? I'm using tvheadend in a docker very successfully streaming to several clients
April 17, 20179 yr Author Mediaportal. I don't like Kodi in comparison so would rather stay with Mediaportal as it's easy to use and the girlfriend gets on with it.
