April 9, 20179 yr Description: Average speeds reported for clearing a drive are sometimes too high. How to reproduce: Add a drive much smaller than the parity drives(s) to the array. Expected results: Average speeds reported for clearing a drive to be accurate. Actual results: Average speeds reported for clearing a (much smaller than parity) drive are too high. Other information: Discovered while playing with an all-SSD system. Note attached image: I added a pair of 120GB SSDs (SATA3), with Parity1/2 drives sized at 1TB (also SSD but that's not important). Actual average speed was more like 157 MB/s. No doubt the size of the Parity drive(s) is being used in the numerator, instead of the size of the cleared drive(s). Not bothering me in the least, just thought you should know . . . and you may already. I searched but did not find a previous mention of this. Edited April 9, 20179 yr by bobkart
