April 11, 20179 yr I've just plugged in my LSI card to preclear some SAS drives and noticed in the UI, the Seagate drive (ST32000444SS) is showing as spun down even though it isn't. It's currently progressing through a pre-clear so other than a visual bug, is this likely to indicate a problem?
April 12, 20179 yr Author Nobody else seen this behaviour? Attached a screenshot to show what I mean.
April 12, 20179 yr SAS drives might not support spinning down, as spinning down is a fucntion of one of the IDE/SATA commands. As SAS uses SCSI commands, it might not be able to spin down, or not understand the spin down command. So, unRAID might be saying "spin down, boyo" and the drive is saying "you want me to do what now?".
