Supermicro X8STE compatibility

I am thinking of upgrading my system to a server based motherboard.

 

Supermicro X8STE caught my attention.

 

Can someone tell me if the x58 Express/ICH10R currently supported?

 

As for the Intel 82574L Gigabit controller, it looks to be supported.

I would like to build me an UnRaid Server with this board as well.  I was just curious if anybody has tried it yet, or knows if it is compatibility yet or not?  This board with an L3406 http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/products/server/processor/xeon3000/specifications processor that use 30W max power, and ECC Memory would be a good setup if it was compatilbe with UnRaid.

 

The X8ST3-F has about the same spec http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Xeon3000/X58/X8ST3-F.cfm, but would be even better yet.  It has an additional 8 Port LSI SAS1068E, but from what I've been reading in the forum this controller wasn't compatible with UnRaid.  Is this still the case?  I couldn't find anything recent on this controller.

The ICH10R is supported.

 

 

The L3406 Xeon processor does not have integrated graphics, so be sure the motherboard has onboard graphics without expecting the CPU to provide it. Both Supermicro motherboards mentioned do, using a Matrox G200 chip.

Look at some of the other Supermicro boards.

Some of them have IPMI with KVM over IP. A real + for remote administration of a file server.

According to Supermicro's specifications the X8ST3-F has IPMI the X8STE does not have it.

I just figured out that the Xeon L3406 CPU is for a 1156 socket not a 1366, so it will not work with the above motherboards.  Well, I'm on to find another motherboard for this low powered 30W Max processor.

Weebo, you and I think a lot alike.  I'm thinking about upgrading to this to handle your new md5/par2 stuff on an i3 550.  Don't get me wrong, I'm loving my Atom board, but it would take it a LONG time to do all the calcs you're planning.

Also any recommendations on memory to go with it? So is anyone running the SUPERMICRO MBD-X8STE motherboard without issues?  Newegg has this board for about @250.

 

My rig is starting to have issues and I was thinking of buying a new mb for my server.  I already have a 1366 cpu and memory, so I only need the mb.  Another reason to upgrade is my current mb only supports 4gb of ram and I want to install the new version 6 64bit, with about 16gb of ram.
