Change hostname (greater than 15 char limit)

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm a new UnRAID user, moving in from FreeNAS. I setup SSL via reverse proxy, however I am unable to modify Plugins/Apps since the hostname doesn't match up with my SSL certificate. I attempted to modify the hostname to domainname01.xyz, and I am unable to type longer than domainname01.xy due to the 15 character limit. I tried changing the hostname in /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts, however it reverted back to my old hostname (domainname01 without the .xyz) after a reboot.

Is there a way I can make the change without it reverting back?

Thanks,

manifest3r

2 possible ways:

Either with the user.scripts plugin, create a script to make the change and have the script set to run at array start

or

You can try modifying the file config/ident.cfg on the flash drive (NAME entry)

But, I'm far from an expert / even knowledgeable on netbios names, but it seems on quick searches that it is limited to 15 characters
