April 16, 20179 yr Hi everyone, What can I expect for read speeds on a 7200RPM SATA drive? Right now when I copy a 6GB file from unraid to my desktop I'm averaging around 30 - 35 MB/s which feels a bit slow. I don't think its networking related considering I copy files from my desktop to unraid at over 400 MB/s via 10Gbit to a SSD cache. So far I've moved the drive in question from my M1015 controller to an on board SATA 3 connector with a different cable but the speeds are about the same. Any thoughts/opinions? I'm using the latest version of unraid with no plugins/dockers/vms. Thanks for the help! Edited April 16, 20179 yr by noacess Added unraid version and info
April 16, 20179 yr Author That definitely helped some. I made all the settings changes except for the jumbo frames one and transfer speeds peaked at 55MB/s which is certainly an improvement.

April 16, 20179 yr Author So, the plot thickens a bit. I tried a few of my other disks I'm able to read from at over 100 MB/s. I'm going to see if I can find a correlation to the raid controller they're on (I have 2 M1015 cards besides the onboard SATA). I might swap a slow drive and a fast drive's position in the array to see what happens.
April 16, 20179 yr Community Expert It's normal for the smb slowdown to affect some disks more than others, but if it was that changing the smb setting should have helped, still try swapping disks around and check for improvements.
