Building kernel for crypto support?

Featured Replies

Hello!

I hope this is the right place for this, but I want to create an encrypted filesystem in unRAID using cryptsetup, but I get the following error:

device-mapper: reload ioctl on  failed: No such file or directory
Failed to setup dm-crypt key mapping for device /dev/loop2.
Check that kernel supports aes-xts-plain64 cipher (check syslog for more info).
Command failed with code 5: Input/output error

After reading it appears the unRAID kernel has no modern crypto modules available and so I wish to recompile it. I found a page here that has a few dead links to what I think are autobuild scripts for the kernel but I can't find them and are probably outdated.

Is it possible to build the kernel and if so, can anyone give me a few pointers for how I would go about doing it? I can follow read and follow guides for generic Linux builds but I want to know if there is anything I should look out for when working with unRAID.

Thanks very much for any help! :)

Try hitting up  @CHBMB for an actual guide.  I know there's one floating around here that he uses..
