Server not accessible

Featured Replies

Good Day!

I have now upgraded my Server to a dual E5 2670 System with 64Gb of RAM and are now having problems getting my System to run.

the old USB Stick did not work on the new Server, so I made a new one and after one Day I managed to get it to boot correctly, but now I cant access the web GUI of the Server. the PC itself is connected to the network and I can access the remote control UI of the Motherboard (Intel S2600cp) but not the Server.

has anybody a tip how I could fix this Problem?

Tanks and best regards

Florian

First, I assume that you have a monitor/keyboard attached to the server.  so type    diagnostics  on the command prompt.  That will write the diagnostics file to the   logs  directory of the Flash Drive.  Upload that with your next post.

Second, have you look at the stickies at the beginning of this sub-forum?  That are a lot of solutions to similar problems to be found there.

I am sorry it took so long for me to answer, but I am really busy at he moment and have some real struggle getting my server to run. I now cant get my server to boot again, it always has a kernel panic while booting. to resolve this, I will now try an older version of unraid. thats why I wasn't able to get a diagnistics file yet. I will post a s soon as it boots again.

at the same time I cant access my Server from the web, and I am thinking that this might be because of the ipmi feature of the Mainboard. would this be possible? I can access the remote bmc console via the ip adress in my network, but nothing else. Is there a way to disable this bmc console? I was not able to find a solution.

Thanks for your help!

Select the   memtst   option from the boot menu (with a monitor and keyboard) and let that run for twenty four hours.

sorry, it took so long for me to continue on this topic, but I've got loads of work to do and haven't got time to work an the Server sooner. now I've managed to get owncloud to boot no problm, but I cant access the web ui. when I go to the domain from local network or over the web, all I get is the integrated BMC web console.

how can I access the web ui to start the owncloud array?

thanks again for your help!

You really need to post up your diagnostics file.  You can do this from the monitor console by typing   diagnostics  after logging in.  The file will be saved in the logs folder on the Flash Drive.

You have this error in your syslog.   I am not quite sure what the actual problem is but I would start by pulling the Flash Drive and running chkldsk on it.

Jul 8 17:24:34 Tower kernel: read_file: error 2 opening /boot/config/super.dat
Jul 8 17:24:34 Tower kernel: md: could not read superblock from /boot/config/super.dat

I also could not find any evidence that any Ethernet driver had been loaded in the syslog.  The ifconfig.txt and ethtool.txt seem to support this observation.

I am hoping at this point, some Guru with more knowledge then I have will jump in and provide some insight.

EDIT: As I understand it, many of these server MB require two ethernet cables. One for the Monitor port and one for the OS operation.

Actually, I don't see any evidence in the lspci output that there's even an ethernet controller installed.  Is it disabled in the BIOS?

That actually was it! Thank you, now I can access the UI! 3 Months not running because of such a simple thing... :P

Thanks to all of you and best regards!
